subject Baird applaudit la réouverture des relations entre Cuba et les États-Unis; Premiers take aim at Conservative government over Harper’s absence, finance minister’s remarks

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. I am surviving the weekend, which has involved a lot of crying by Sol. Is it an early onset of the Terrible Twos? He is a bit congested but would that explain why is didn’t fall asleep until 10:45? Was it the power-nap in the car tonight at 7:30 to pick Rose up from her play date in Laval that did him in? I hope he’ll be in good form for swim lessons tomorrow. I can hear him stirring right now actually; I wonder if he’ll come into bed with me? Clo is out dancing with Pip. I didn’t collect any signatures today, though Sonya came by to sign until we realized she is not an eligible voter yet. Zut! Tomorrow I will have some more time, and then Monday and Tuesday evening. I should be filling out the application right now but I think I prefer to watch some Kid Snippets videos on Youtube before bed. Yep, he’s up. Here he comes. He’s so fidgety! Like he just can’t get comfortable. And now he’s snoring. At least he is asleep; let’s hope I can drift off too.

subject Mission canadienne en Irak: Trudeau incapable de se faire une tête, faute d’informations; Public servants have 15 million days in banked sick leave

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. Survived another crisp, cold day. At least it was sunny. We were too late to get Sol to swimming class but I took Rose and ran a few errands on the return, we had a good lunch and relaxed and cleaned the apartment, have re-arranged a bit. Took the kids to the sledding hill in Parc Jarry but Sol fell asleep en route and slept the whole time. Rose wiped out on her last run with the crazy carpets and whacked her head good on the snow jump at the bottom of the hill. I did manage to get a signature, Dac has signed up. Tomorrow and Tuesday are big days for that. And for filling out the rest of the application. Amongst work. It’s the last week of the Belin-Mosse exhibit. I think I might try to read a bit tonight before sleeping. Both kids are down. Rose was easy, she had skipped her nap again and so was exhausted. Sol took about an hour, from 9 to 10, to settle down and fall asleep. That kid hates bedtime!

subject John Baird sur le point de démissionner; Refusal to face reality of death leads to increased use of aggressive, futile health-care efforts

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. I survived another Monday. I campaigned hard tonight after work! I’m up to 17, and need another 8 signatures by Wednesday. I think I can do it, even though it is harder to get the real conservatives to either a. answer their phones or b. agree to let me pass by and take 2 minutes of their time to sign the nomination papers. Tonight I had 2 refuse me for no reason other than they were busy. Not very supportive! Maybe they already signed for someone else but they could have just said so. I left the house at 7 and came back at 11:30. I drove back and forth east and west in the riding. I find I seem to be the the same person whether I am talking with friends who joined just to help me with the project or real conservatives. I don’t really know how this will all play out. The hardest part now might be coming up with the $1000. Our Tax de Bienvenue as well as our municipal taxes are due first of March; that’s thousands and thousands right there. I guess that backsplash isn’t gonna happen anytime soon. Oh, in other news: I hit 400 in the Twitter! I now have 402. Let’s see for how long that lasts.

subject John Baird annonce sa démission; Algonquin student, now in Syria, latest to face terror charges

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. I survived another day at work. I also helped Jerry out with CIMS over the phone. I wanted to get a more up-to-date version of the membership list, just to see if this supposed other candidate signed people up ahead of the 21-days before the nomination was called. Doesn’t appear he has. I spent the night tracking down more signatures and if Clo and the 2 others who said they will sign tomorrow morning do so, and dean signs tonight after I pick him up from the airport, then I’ll have my 25. Problem is, of course, that more than half have signed up in the past week, so are technically not eligible, and Jerry was the first to sign and as financial agent for the riding association he is automatically on the local selection committee and thus ineligible. One of the many other almost-random requests I have made to contacts and Facebook friends would have to come through to give me an extra bit of leeway. Anyway, in exchange for him signing up I am picking Dean up from the airport after midnight tonight. I am going to leave shortly and work on finishing my questionnaire (namely the famous “why do I want to be a candidate for the conservative party” question) at the airport. Probably at the Tim Hortons near arrivals. Maybe I’ll roll up the rim and win a pile of money to pay my property taxes and the bond for my nomination.

subject Les députés condamnés ne pourront plus toucher de prestations de retraite; Gunman asked to borrow car ‘for one day,’ then bought it for $650 (with video)

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. I survived the nomination period. I managed to get 25 signatures, even though it meant driving to Laval yesterday morning. I met with Michel at the Tims on the corner to give him the CNC copy. The person he had spoken to at the Christmas party actually signed my nomination form; I guess he is not running after all. So I might be acclaimed? This is the latest from Marc-André in Ottawa:

Bonjour Chris,

J’ai bien reçu ton cahier de mise en candidature.  Il sera analysé au cours des prochaines heures.

Je te reviens.

Merci.

Do you think they are reviewing it tonight? What exactly does “prochaines heures” mean?

Tonight we switched up the supper date as Clo came down with a nasty flu and tonsillitis. Went to Kim and J-Ms instead. Michael and Emi and their son came too. It was a lot of kid-energy in the apartment! Lots of running and jumping and hitting and playing and riding and running and yelling and screaming and crying and laughing and more running.

Michael and Emi have just been robbed. Michael basically lost his art career: his laptop and hardrive with years of material. They are currently staying at Jon’s place as their apartment is getting painted; he lost a computer too, but at least has a backup. His neighbour was also broken into and lost some musical gear.

I can’t write more tonight, I am exhausted and falling asleep.

subject Angela Merkel rencontrera Stephen Harper lundi; Prentice gains entry to U.S. halls of power, but fights uphill battle on Keystone

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. I survived the weekend, and Claudine’s birthday, and our participation in Sophie’s performance on Saturday at Circle-Carré. The event was called Legs and started at 1pm, ending at 9, with 6 performances per hour, every ten minutes, no breaks. I love the concept, performances phasing into one another, the slight improvisation that occurred at each start and stop. We were in the first performance and Clo and I simply danced 4 slows. We had headphones on and danced close, ‘dans notre bulle’, so I found it easy. Sophie had others recite some texts, sing or snap fingers around us. Of course, as it is with most performance art, there was a wide variety afterwards of the good, the bad and the ugly. We left shortly after Jacob Wren called for a General Strike this spring. Went to see the Enclave, which Clo found disturbing and troubling – not just the content but of course the context (white, European male makes art about Africans). We had Luisa come babysit the kids for the afternoon, she’s amazing, the kids love her, they make art and puzzles and read and watch videos. There was no Netflix as CoopTel was down all day, but no crisis. We had the core AC gang over for cheese fondu – the party went on until 3am, so we skipped swim lessons this morning. Clo had plans to go cross-country skiing in St. Bruno this afternoon but a crazy arctic storm swept in and it was much too cold and snowy, so Sarah an Etienne and Femke came over for an afternoon playdate and early supper instead. Etienne had made a great ratatouille and I had made a tasty lentil soup. The chocolate cake that Kent made for Clo and Anne’s birthdays was a big culinary highlight of the weekend. Yum! Sol couldn’t get enough; he was up late last night. Rose, however, actually put herself to bed and fell asleep by herself. Sometimes these are the advantages of her skipping her nap. Tonight she fell asleep during my re-telling on Star Wars: Episode 4. Dropped to 400 followers on Twitter but my Klout score bounded up to 61. Anyway, enough Facebook. Off to bed.

subject Merkel obtient l’appui des États-Unis et du Canada; Harper noncommittal on question of arming Ukraine

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. I survived another Monday. It was a long day at work as we needed to get all the Enclave gear packed and taken to William Street and re-palletized for the Pacart pickup tomorrow morning. There was some miscommunication about the closing dates for the show and the equipment is needed for another presentation of the piece in Europe somewhere next week. Big rush! We got it all packed up and ready to go, even had to break in to our storage facility as the lock to the front door had frozen! We had to force up the garage door and Spencer squeezed underneath to get in. Anyway, it’s done. And how about that floor-crossing Eve Adams? The news following so closely the resignation of Baird. Are you going to call a spring election? I received an email tonight from Yannis (the new regional organizer) asking the associations to plan early AGAs. And the news outlets often to refer the the supposed election in October as “just months away” (which is technically true but so then is Halloween just months away, yet we don’t say that now do we?). Anyway, if you do call it early, aim for the end of May or early June. The next show at DHC opens April 28 so it will be easier for me to take a leave of absence from work to better campaign…if I get the nod to be candidate. Yannis also wants to know who is on my local CNC and their contact info. Fingers still crossed! Still 400 Twitter followers.

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. Survived another day of work. Work: revising floorplans (Sketchup and Layout); puttering through the galleries helping people lift pictures, dusting, etc. Oh yes of course started the morning at the storage facility where the butt-to-butt transfer of works worked wonderfully. So fast, too! We were locked out again however as Spencer accidentally knocked the key off the mail slot, but the kids just hoisted up the garage doors again. Anyway, in more exciting news, I received an email from Marc-André announcing the CNC interview via phone for tomorrow afternoon! It’s set for 4pm. Clo and I spoke at lenght tonight about the potential upcoming campaign, all the ambiguousness around it. Do you know how long these interviews generally last? I don’t want to be too late in picking up the kids. Off to shower then bed, already too late, damn you facebook and twitter! Holding steady at 401.

subject Travaux publics: plusieurs contrats exclus des règles resserrées d’intégrité; Fortney: One of Green’s proudest moments was making Treaty 7

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. I survived the telephone interview with Marc-André and Michel. Jerry didn’t call in but he did call me later in the evening in response to my call earlier; he seemed to have not received the invite, or didn’t understand it. In any case, the interview felt like a formality, a few basic questions but nothing too profound, I spoke a lot about that ticket I received for obstruction back in 2013. Nothing else to declare. Marc-André said they would get back to me very soon. No detailed questions about my art practice. I’m wondering have they not googled me yet? Or they have and just don’t understand at all? Or they have and it all makes perfect sense (the goalie, the Tim Hortons, the Canadiana, etc.) I think that means maybe I’m in? In other news I just came back from a sudden emergency board meeting for SKOL, as a reply is needed for Mois de Photo tomorrow about whether the gallery will move this summer or not. Sadly, the vote was to delay the move and keep the partnership with M de P this year (even if the curator and most of the programming is absolute shit). It represents a huge chunk of “revenue autonome” (even though is is mostly exchange of services and not hard currency), which is important for our funders. I’m a bit discouraged. There was so much potential! And I am so, so sick of the Belgo. It feels like watching a beached whale slowly die and then rot. I need to go to sleep.

subject Canadien Pacifique: une grève est évitable, dit le ministre de l’Agriculture; Here’s Stephen Harper loosening up his image in Quebec

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. Yannis bailed on our meeting, postponing until Monday. In the meantime, I’ve been in touch with a former staffer of yours, who has worked for some cabinet ministers over the years, and this person is apparently not a conservative and is interested in helping in some ways to my campaign. I announced in a very lo-key way on Facebook that I am now the official candidate and that post, with its 140+ likes and over forty comments is the biggest thing to hit my Facebook since the big Indiegogo push to send the Everyday Goalie to Venice. It’s more popular right now than cute photos or videos of my kids. The whole thing is exciting and a bit nerve-wracking as well. I have to raise so much money! And I have no money right now, negative money in fact. I am running a deficit! And I don’t believe budgets balance themselves but also I don’t even really keep a budget, either. I earn a steady paycheck and I spend erratically, a lot on debt-repayment but of course nothing like the whole damn country. I am starting to fantasize about actually beating Justin and winning this riding and earning the $162,000 base salary as an MP. That is a whole lot of money. Anyway, I have already had a media request about my candidacy, from someone at the Telegraph Journal. I googled her, she’s only been at the paper for four months, fresh from journalism school. I’ll go easy on her, told her I’m available Monday, after I meet with Yannis. Clo has gone out clubbing tonight with Iliana and friends. I’ll go fold some laundry and read some David Foster Wallace to relax my brain (!!!) before bed. Bedtime with the kids is going very well this week. Clo established a nice routine and we’ve been sticking to it: PJs after supper, some free playtime, then stories, teeth, bathroom, and bed, where a little battery-powered lantern is waiting on Sol’s bed for him to look at, turn off and back on a few times, then he kisses it and says goodnight. Kisses and says goodnight to his water bottle, too. Lately it’s all about kissing and/or saying goodbye to so many things, even pipi and caca as he flushes the toilet over and over. And listens to the Spider-man or Imperial March over and over and over again. Hey, what song should I choose as a campaign song? I was thinking “Eye of the Tiger”.

subject Grève au CP: un projet de loi déposé lundi matin; ‘When does a psychotic episode become terrorism?’ Distinction between terrorists, criminals ‘hazy,’ experts say

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. I survived the weekend, though our car battery didn’t. Car didn’t start as we were preparing to leave for swim lessons, so we took the metro instead, walking from Sherbrooke. Missed Sol’s class, but in time for Rose’s. I took a shower with Sol since his hair hadn’t been washed in over a week and we were planning to do it after his swim lesson, and we had time, so voila. He screamed the whole time until I turned off the water and then he was fine, like nothing had happened, certainly nothing that would cause him to scream at the top of his lungs for five minutes straight.

Yesterday we skipped ski lessons as it was again -a gazillion, also Clo got in around 4 from her night out dancing. We did go out later in the day, meeting Femke and friends on the bus to gather at Chabot Square (metro Atwater) for the memorial march for missing and murdered indigenous women, but we left after standing around in the frigid weather for almost an hour. I think the kids were OK, Sol had brown slush puddles to play in and Rose had Femke, but our adult toes were freezing. My unsolicited advice would be if you advertise a march as starting at 3, try to start marching at 3, especially when it is colder than -20.

subject Harper évoque une haine des valeurs conservatrices à Radio-Canada; Toronto man, 29, froze to death in his front yard after falling out of wheelchair during extreme cold alert

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. I survived another Monday. Yannis cancelled our meeting again, postponing until tomorrow, so I went ahead and gave a brief interview with a reporter from the TJ. I have lost all objectivity: I have no idea how it sounded or will be presented. I did it dryly, pitching my desire to be candidate as a sort of “can’t beat ’em, join ’em” scenario. There were some giggles and chuckles on both sides but I retained a certain composure.

This evening we celebrated Sol’s birthday. Hard to believe the little-big guy (Gros Jumbo!) is turning 2. He weighs 33lbs. We did manage to get his bangs cut on the weekend, so he resembles a little less a sheepdog. He loved opening his presents and singing happy birthday. My parents joined via Facetime, and he even spoke with his Mami on the telephone. Bedtime was relatively smooth, he was a bit wound up but they were both asleep by 8:30. What a change from the previous months. Meanwhile I squandered all that extra time in front of Facebook with nothing to show for it, not even a decent cat video, just pictures of snow from out east. Tomorrow the kids have a doctor’s appointment. We’ll take the metro because the car battery is dead, and besides getting the kids ready our morning energy will be focused on getting garbage and recycling to the curb in time. So I will endeavour to go to bed early, finish the day with some nice light reading.

subject Nouvelles sanctions du Canada contre la Russie; Suspects in Halifax mass shooting plot had obsession with Nazi symbols, Columbine Massacre

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. I survived a trip to the doctor this morning. Not for me, for the kids. Sol had his 2-year checkup and Rose had a 5-year vaccination. She was brave and strong about getting a needle – more so than I usually am! In other news I finally met with Yannis, the regional organiser, after a bit of a delay on my part because I actually had to help the team get one of the big photos off the wall and wrapped. Yannis and I mostly discussed campaign financing. I called Jerry to discuss developments, such as planning the AGA for the association, me stepping down as president and whether it is necessary to remove myself as a signing officer on the bank account. I didn’t realize that we can start fundraising right away and deposit direct into the association’s account, and that the campaign account doesn’t come into play until the moment the election is called. Also, I need to start getting my 100 signatures for Elections Canada and fill out who-knows how many forms, also to be submitted within the 11 days following launch of the election. I also spoke with my new friend on the inside who informed me that the election is most likely, almost positively happening in October as forecast. This will be a relief for Kim, who will be in China through spring and early summer, but more of a stress for me, as October is de-install and install month for DHC. And tonight, after the kids were in bed and I tried half-hearted to clean up the basement, I dressed up in my suit and posed in front of all my letters and books to the PM so Clo could snap some photos for the TJ piece. In other news, I lost a couple Twitter followers so am back to 399, which is a bummer as I am about to post my 8,000th tweet. Anyway best get to bed as I do have work to do tomorrow at my job-job. Also I’m freezing, it’s cold in the apartment when all the heaters are on low or off. How’s the heat at 24 Sussex?

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. I survived another day of work, working on building plans for a freestanding wall to accompany a flat plinth while also looking up reams and reams of Elections Canada rules and guidelines. The financial stuff is super tricky, as you well know. The TJ liked the photo I sent late last night, and the story should run tomorrow. No news from Yannis or Marc-André on my latest round of questions regarding the AGA.

The kids were great again for pickup this afternoon, they played in the snow on the way home as also in our front yard homemade snow steps and slide, and played together nicely while I whipped up a strange supper consisting of eggs in the hole, kale, sautéed mushrooms, sliced cucumbers and green peppers, and falafel that Claudine brought home with her. The kids went to bed well too, and then Clo and I tackled the basement, and actually made good headway. Now I’m worn out, my eyes hurt, the skin on my hands is unusually dry, I just want to go to bed. Am trying to install iPhoto for Yosemite, what a disaster, nothing is happening. What happened to you Apple?

Also, the article was published in the TJ, but Marc-André seemed less than thrilled about it, sending me the version he received with his filters highlighted, and asking me to let him know whenever the media contact me. Saint John man to run againstJustin Trudeau

A conceptual artist who grew up in Saint John is lacing up his metaphorical boxing gloves to take on Justin Trudeau in the federal election.

Chris Lloyd, who moved to Montreal in 2007 to be with his wife, is the Conservative candidate for the riding of Papineau.

“I’m an underdog,” said the 41-year-old who created Third Space Gallery – an artist-run centre for conceptual art – in the Port City in 2005. “It almost feels like I’m running for a fringe party.”

Lloyd started a project in 2001 called Dear PM in which he sends the prime ministera letter every day, usually by email. That’s what interested him in running for in the election. “I had become a little interested in the impact of federal politics on my daily life,” he said.

The letters are more like diary entries and not overly political but have still affected his life. Lloyd started writing them when Jean Chrétien was in office.

“Many people keep a diary for all sorts of personal reasons, but for some reason I decided to send my personal diary to the head of the country.”

Lloyd didn’t think about becoming a politician himself until after the 2011 federal election. He started wondering about the Conservative Party’s presence in his riding.

In 2011, when Prime Minister Stephen Harper led the Tories to a majority government and the Liberals had one of the worst showings in party history, the Conservative candidate in Papineau, Shama Chopra, took 4.73 per cent of the vote, finishing behind the Liberals, the NDP and the Bloc Québécois. Trudeau was 10 points above his nearest competitor, with 38.41 per cent of the vote.

The riding, renamed Papineau from Papineau-Saint Denis in 2004, has been held by two Liberals and a member of the Bloc Québécois since its boundaries were changed.

“After the 2011 election, I started making inquiries about what makes up a federal party’s constituent parts when they don’t have an MP. What does that do to the ridings?”

Lloyd attended the Conservative Party’s national convention in 2012 as a delegate. He was the only person from Papineau to attend.

“That kind of shows how under-performing the party is in my backyard.”

Marc-André Leclerc, the deputy communications director for the party, confirmed via Twitter message that Lloyd is the Papineau candidate for the Tories.

“I am pleased to announce that you are officially our candidate in the riding of Papineau,” he said in an email sent to Lloyd, translated from French to English.

Federal Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau won the seat for the first time in the 2008 election with 41.47 per cent of the vote.

Llyod applied to the party to get the nomination, and after a period of vetting, background checks and interviews, he was up for the nomination. He was the only person to apply and was made the official candidate last week.

By his own admission, Lloyd hasn’t always identified as a Conservative, and his letters to the prime minister reflect that.

On Dec. 3, 2008, he wrote a letter to Stephen Harper telling him his “days are numbered” and that he would likely be out of a job soon. In that entry he also includes a letter he wrote to Trudeau admitting he voted NDP in the 2008 federal election. He added that his heart was with the Green party, but he would support a coalition between the Liberals and the NDP with Bloc support.

Lloyd said he is going to run on Conservative party policies in the election, although he’s keeping most of his campaigning secrets mum. He believes there’s a good chance the Conservatives will win the election with a majority government and he plans on convincing the people of Papineau that if you can’t beat them, you might as well join them.

One of Lloyd’s campaign arguments is that Trudeau is too busy to spend much time in the riding. Lloyd plans to invite the Liberal to events and debates and hopes to have some dynamic discussions with him.

But the Conservatives haven’t been popular in the riding, election results indicate. In the last four elections, the highest a Tory candidate has finished is third out of four major parties. Three of those elections, the party placed behind the Liberals, the Bloc and the NDP.

Lloyd understands he has a lot of work ahead of him.

He said he’s been entertaining fantasies of winning the election but has to be realistic about the party’s chances. Some of the undecided voters might swing his way, depending on how he can portray the party, he said, but it’s all a guessing game.

Lloyd said he isn’t afraid to face Trudeau in a voting booth, but seeing him in a boxing ring is another matter.

“I really hope that he doesn’t challenge me to a boxing match because I’m really not a good boxer. He would wipe the floor with me.”

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. I survived a dental appointment to have my teeth checked and cleaned. All good! Decided to take the day off work, and concentrated on cleaning up the basement, washing laundry, and organizing some of my papers and files. Shovelled off the car and called CAA for a boost; it hasn’t started in a week, and Louis-Alexandre was borrowing it to get Romy from Trois-Rivières. Received another media request, this time radio from Moncton but Marc-André was brief again with his order that I am “unavailable”. I wonder if I should bring this up during the conference call with Denis Lebel on Monday? Rose had her haircut after daycare, it is so cute, a partial under-shave in the back and funky short bangs, she is very cute and was so happy with my supper (super simple yellow lentils dahl and basmati rice) that she ate two bowls and said she wanted to eat it every day forever! Must be the coconut milk. Spoke with Greg Hemmings back in SJ who is stoked to pitch some sort of documentary on my campaign run. We’ll discuss more during our visit next week. Clo wants to watch The Fall so I need to give over the computer. Inlaws coming tomorrow for a visit.

Rose went to her friend from daycare’s birthday party and I accidentally stayed as well, since Sol hadn’t quite fallen asleep in the sled and once he saw the kids and toys inside there was no getting him to leave early. He even had a caca and I had to call clo to come rescue us as I hadn’t brought the diaper bag. Sophie and Stéphane have a great house, they spent a good 7 months away while undergoing extensive renovations, transforming a two-storey duplex into a single family dwelling. After supper I feel asleep with Sol in his bed which was fine since we had planned to sleep with the kids anyway, lending our room to Clo’s parents. No discussion was had on my recent foray into federal politics; I think the timing was not right. Today we skipped all swim lessons instead going to parc jarry for sliding and skating. The ice was in great shape and the temperature was a balmy -6 or something. In the afternoon I picked up the truck rented for DHC which Karen had left down by metro Atwater and picked up some groceries and then met Kim and Jean-Michel at their place to help load a bunch of their stuff and the Telefunken radio in to bring to our place. They are staying with us this week as they prepare their 4 months in China. They have no room for the Telefunken in their new apartment in Outremont nor in the tiny gallery space where they are storing most of their furniture in an exhibition that aims to highlight the nature of 21st century capitalism. Anyway, they’ll be here shortly, I’d best wrap this up, this letter that rambles on so and says so terribly little about anything, really.

subject Suicide assisté: des conservateurs veulent du temps pour débattre; Debate over anti-terrorism bill a perfect microcosm of Canadian politics

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. I survived another Monday. Drove the truck down to work. Sol screamed getting dressed for daycare, screamed getting undressed, screamed as I handed him off to Calida. Rough morning. Worked on plans, made lists, ordered materials at work. Had the monthly conference call with Denis Lebel and Marc-André and a handful of other newly-appointed candidates. It appears the “unavailable” excuse for not speaking to the media relates to a larger strategy of simply not wasting time conducting interviews that might not be in the best interests of the Party, so my worries that I had revealed too much with that first interview, or that I was at risk of being ditched as a candidate, were unfounded. I was even amongst those congratulated by minister Lebel for the nomination. Next steps involve sending Marc-André a photo and a bio, so info can get up on websites. I’d work on adjusting the photo I sent to the TJ except that this stupid fucking Yosemite is fucking with everything. I can’t install the new useless iTunes, and now I need a Java update to run Photoshop. In other news I ran out of the house at 9:45 to get rolled oats at the grocery store to make apple crisp for Rose tomorrow as it is multicultural week and it was in fact her turn today (though we both forgot) to present a snack and other items relating to her cultural background. I am just now burning a CD of Anne of Green Gables and she will bring her hat with ponytails. And apple crumble. Lucky for me Jean-Michela and Kim are great cooks (Kim even made a meal so we could have lunches tomorrow – AFTER she made the first meal for supper). It is funny to think she will be one of the opposing candidates in the next election. OK, gonna try to install Java…

subject Le ministre Nicholson dénonce un diplomate pakistanais; Museum of History among local cultural institutions to get a boost in funding

Dear Stephen, I am still alive, survived work, survived the kids to and from daycare, survived making supper, a quick visit from Kim’s mom to help out with the kids as Jean-Michel was working on his text for the show opening on Thursday and Clo was at a VIVA meeting, then I met up with Mathieu Léger at Brasserie Harricana and we talked about ARCs and neo-liberalism and my project and his residency project and politics in general. And tonight getting home I have an invitation for an artist-talk at Connexion on March 5, my birthday, and I edited the media release and I guess have agreed to that date, and also sent a brief bio to Entrepreneurs du common for the brief Talk Show appearance I will make at SBC this Saturday for Nuit Blanche despite not yet having secured a babysitter not knowing at all what I will have to say to contribute to a discussion about a Monument to the victims of liberty.

subject Le projet de loi pour donner plus de pouvoir aux «simples députés» chemine; Parents of B.C. man who volunteered to fight ISIS support his ‘intense desire’ to defend Canadian values

Dear Stephen,

I am still alive. I survived a morning of moving stuff around: the Telefunken into the truck, the 2 remaining plinth bases that were left behind at Atelier Clark into the truck; the Telefunken to William; building materials from Rona into the truck; some tools from William into the truck; the materials and plinths unloaded at work. Forgot to bring the shop vac from home back to work. The rest of the day was a bit of a bust. I brought a watercolour from home that I was hoping to modify and then send to Plug-In ICA in Winnipeg as part of their fundraiser but didn’t find a paintbrush and then ended up leaving my bag in the truck which Spencer took home. I picked up the kids after daycare, and Sol has a slightly weepy eye and looks tired. He fell asleep super fast last night and again tonight, and he hasn’t a great appetite. Kim and I made paté chinois tonight, a meat and also a vegetarian option. After putting the kids to bed tonight I had a shower; I can’t quite remember the last time I had one. All the kids had baths tonight. Think I’ll read a bit of Infinite Jest before bed.

Anyway, the day was a bit blah at work, I’ve got to go in for a couple hours tomorrow to finish up some plans, and then Clo and I have a meeting with the bank to try to get an extended line of credit on our mortgage so we can pay down the credit cards and lines of credit we used up to renovate the kitchen. It would be nice to pay 3 or 4% interest instead of 9 and 19. Oh, and my artist talk at connexion is up on the website and has a Facebook event, I sent you some tweets about it earlier today. Off to bed, more Infinite Jest.
