Dear Justin,
I am still alive. Still a bit depressed, but getting better as we get closer to leaving for vacation. Still lots of packing. On a whim took the kids down to the Old Port to see the fireworks after supper. We didn’t have a great spot to view them, at one point I was holding up both kids, with a combined weight of about 90 lbs. Sol and Rose enjoyed the inflatable slides and simply climbing the walls and stairs in Old Montreal. They did NOT like whatever jazzy-jam band was blaring out the music. They also liked the rain as we were getting back on the metro, but they were not so keen on all the mud. I put them to bed dirty, they were up until past 11. I wonder if that means they will sleep in? I asked them too. I wore my Colonialism 150 T-shirt to celebrate.

Dear Justin,
I am still alive. Not so depressed anymore, no time, no time. Visited Sarah at the Glen today with the kids, we all had to wear those yellow gowns and gloves, she is improving so quickly. Then visited the other Sarah since she is so close to the hospital, then the rest of the day was packing, packing, cleaning, packing. I plan to wake up at 5:30 to load the last of the bags and suitcases and food items, then the kids in their PJs and away we go. And away I go to bed to grab a few winks before dawn, and a day of driving. I may not write again until we get to NB in a few days.

Dear Justin,
I am still alive. I am surviving vacation, survived Baie-Saint-Paul, Otnabog, Quispamsis and now in Timerberlea. I might write again before heading to Ponhook later in the week but right now I am exhausted and just want to go to bed.

Dear Justin,
I am still alive. I am surviving the suburbs in Timberlea. Planning to go to an amusement park tomorrow, makes me shudder inside.

Dear Justin,
I am still alive. I survived a day trip to an old-fashioned amusement park called Atlantic Playpark, where the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves on rides and waterslides. They didn’t care too much for the go-karts (too fast, smelly, and bumpy – the roads are in bad shape), and Rose was a little too young for the haunted house and will probably have nightmares. Swam in the pool when we got back but I am starting to feel a bit stir- crazy for being out in the suburbs. Also totally broke yet again. Received a weird $38 from the MBAC (vacation pay payout?) and EI payments don’t start until next week, I think, and even then it is only for 1 week. Fuck money.

Dear Justin,
I am still alive. I survived an aller-retour to Lunenburg to visit my grandmother. We were initially going to continue to Ponhook but Tamara found extra tickets to the Dan Mangan house concert tonight so we came back, then she realized that the show was child-friendly and that Jordyn would probably appreciate the show more than I (she knows all his songs, I know none), so we cancelled the babysitter and I took my kids to see the new library and Cliff Eyland’s 5,000 little paintings, and the new Spider-Man movie. I gave them the choice of visiting the AGNS but the movie won out, also Sol was not really in an art-going kind of mood, I could tell. Just got home a little while ago and the kids are wired yet exhausted so I hope they sleep all night. As predicted Rose climbed into the single air mattress with me last night and I couldn’t get back to sleep, too much anxiety about life, money, my relationships, death, taxes, all the fun stuff. Felt like a zombie for much of today. Enjoyed the movie though, best Spidey yet.

Dear Justin,
I am still alive. I survived the Ponhook leg of the vacation. Ran into Darren MNO a few times, the kids had a blast swimming all the time, Sol caught his first leach, a baby one and though he claimed he would never swim again, he did, and many times. We’re back in Timberlea tonight heading back to Otnabog tomorrow. The kids and I all very excited to see Clo, who arrives Tuesday. I should be getting my first EI payment, for one week, on Wednesday, so there are plenty of reasons to celebrate.
