We survived our 11th wedding anniversary by sending the kids off to sleepovers so we could go catch the tail end of PME Art’s performance of « The DJ who gave too much information » and then Patti’s 50th birthday party featuring live sets from Stephen Beaupré and other DJs who kept us dancing until 9am. Then after the briefest of naps I was at the CAM installing photographs for the afternoon, and then James texted with plans for a BBQ in Parc Lafontaine so I gathered the kids up and we cycled down. James had ordered a huge quantity of Portuguese chicken and fries, yum-yum, and we realized that it is the Captain’s birthday today so we called Stacy to wish him a good one.

If I accept, I’m going to be the new chief technician at Vox. I emailed Marie-Josée tonight to thank them for the interview last week and she wrote back saying they’d decided to hire me. So this is a relief! Now I need to finish the SBC install this week, which is just painting really, I packaged up the artworks being shipped out tomorrow. The whole gallery needs to be re-painted, so a bit of a job there. And Pan is trying really hard to get a caravan of artists from Montreal for Art in the Open but the dates fall right when I’d be starting in on the next install at Vox, so that needs negotiating. As do our summer vacation dates.

Another day at SBC, as well as a session with my psychanalyste, and now I’m tending to the barbecue. The neighbourhood kids are in the treehouse. I’m also tending to our vines, which keep going and going. Rose wants to look at photos on my phone.

Also, still alive. Survived a couple hours at SBC, then cycled back home to get the kids for dentist appointments, another $300 on Mr. Visa, then Rose’s after-school end-of-year concert and then neighbourhood kids in the yard and alley afterwards and then tiredness and community theatre kicks in and then bed. And we’re in bed. And holy Fuck Doug Ford is premier of Ontario.

Morning of déjà vu. Sleeping in; even the kids. We were out late last night for the lantern event at 4001 berri. We cycled down and back, and walked along St. Laurent a bit, but the crowds are too much and I hate the F1. And now Clo is impatient again, to get ready to go for more activities. The fun never ends. Ever listen to Fever Ray?

Haha, it’s true. Bike rides today, some errands, missed a baby shower by a hair, bought groceries (my new strategy with money is to just buy until my card literally runs out of money), made supper, bathed Sol, who is now obsessed with earthquakes because we went on a simulator at the St. Laurent street fair and now he demands to see educational videos about earthquakes. I think I’ve decided to change my Filibuster performance for Art in the Open to a durational piece where in 12 hours I will try to read all my PM letters. What do you think?

We all slept in this morning, but only Rose was late. After I dropped the kids off I came home and had a 2.5 hour nap. Woke up quite refreshed and after eating and listening to The Daily I started work on Amy’s sketchup design for the potential job Mohanad and I might do for her in August.

Last night I dreamt I was waterskiing with Gord Downie. He had a fat slalom board, almost the width of a surfboard. I remember wondering, didn’t you die? He looked happy.

I caught up on my The Daily podcasts, finishing the special 5-part series on the Baltimore police and following the Trump-Kim summit handshake. I hear you really pissed off the Donald. I started listening while organizing the storage at SBC. Don’t tell anyone, but Sol had a bad nosebleed tonight, he made me promise I wouldn’t tell anyone, he feels embarrassed about it.

Finally bought some mold-making materials and clay for the Everyday Goalie maquette, and bought some linen and made a provisional stretcher and started the painting for my brother.

M came to clean the house (she comes every 3 weeks) but it remained clean for like five minutes because then the kids came home and with the rain and the kids coming in and out there was a bit of mud tracked around. 10pm now, bedtime.

I really should be sleeping. Happy belated Father’s day. I liked your Instagram post. Clo took the kids this morning and let me sleep in, a real treat. We spent the afternoon cleaning the front and back yards and pressure-washing the decks and windows and furniture and toys and buckets, all manner of things.

I thought I was going to start the new job at Vox today but it is tomorrow, so I was able to finish the painting for Aaron. Avoided thundershowers a few times with the kids, first on biked after school and daycare and then after supper on foot to the dep for Freezies. Had a lot of garbage and recycling to take out from the cleanup yesterday. Watched Fleabag and Hail Caesar.

Today was my first day at Vox, which left my brain saturated with info. And I got your reply re: Kinder Morgan but haven’t had time to read it yet. Have you seen the Apeshit video by Beyonce and Jay-Z? Very good.

Don’t you just love playing with the auto select functions of texting? The near future of these letters will now feature a growing subject heading based on the auto select function. I have to be impulsive sometimes with the Dear PM project in order to keep my own interest piqued.

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day. Today i cycled to work at Vox via Bixi because the nut that holds my rear brakes in place fell off, probable due to the state of the roads. I went to Rose’s music recital, found the part at Monument, and cycled back downtown to work at SBC. Biked home, grabbed a Bixi to Park Jarry to meet the kids for the end of school picnic. Now I’m exhausted.

I’m having lunch at VOX, where I am labelling with a new label maker. Making new labels and cleaning and familiarizing myself with the stuff.

Do you know the artist Tammi Campbell ? She’ll be exhibiting a cool project related to Agnes Martin – a series of hand-drawn grids, every day, for 10 years.

We’re home from the parties. In fact we only attended one, the end of the school year party for Rose. We waited a half hour for the #55 which never showed, and news from Clo, who was already there, was that it was mostly winding down, so the kids and I came home. Rose is already asleep while Sol is assembling a new Lego.

What a studio party last night to celebrate the St-Jean but also to inaugurate Belleville 2.0. We got home around 4:30, and I haven’t slept much today, in fact tooK Sol with me to the airport to collect Sarah and Pascal coming home from Marseille. Family movie tonight was Wonder Woman. Watching a Netflix special about Lady Di now.

Just finished watching that 2-part special on Diana and then watched The Queen. Had a productive day: met with my therapist, made slime with Rose and Sol, and rolled up and wrapped the painting for Aaron, to send in the mail tomorrow or Wednesday.

Another day at work, at VOX, where I hunkered down and researched some of the artists for the fall show. There are still a lot of unknowns and I’m probably putting the cart before the horse with Sketchup plans but that’s sometimes how it is.

Made chicken legs on the barbecue tonight but ran out of gas when I put the kale on. Going to bed early to make up for last night.

Ok, so as you can see from the above the auto-select side project may be a bust. Too random.

You know what else I think is a bust? Robert Lepage’s new play Slāv, a show presented by le théâtre de nouveau monde, all about slavery, using slave songs. Sure his and Betty Bonifassi’s intentions might be good, but it still smacks of white privilege. It’s using their (white) star power to sell out shows and profiting from slavery. Why did they think this was a good idea? And who helps make it happen? Just don’t.

I really should put more thought into this correspondence. I think I’m going to start jotting you notes throughout the day, when specific things go through my head or when something is happening. Writing at the end of the day from bed makes it too uniform and boring.

I took the afternoon off to see my therapist (we talked about Teching Hsieh) and then I installed an AC unit for SRoberts (mix of bike on metro and biking) and then I exchanged our propane tank and then visited with Pascal and Sarah, who is sick, so Pascal and I went to Vito’s to watch soccer (they have two screens set up outside). Tonight was home alone with the kids as Clo is wrapping up her final days at Oboro. Listened to The Daily (scared what the Republicans can now do to the Supreme Court) and This American Life.

subject I am still going to be home and I have a lot of fun with you

This is the first letter that I am dictating to you. Let’s see how it works. I’m pleasantly surprised by the auto word choice in the subject. I just came back from Montreal north. I got a flat tire before getting to the glass place, so the whole trip after repairs took over two hours. I’m back home now, having lunch. I’ve had some thoughts on the performance in Charlotte town. I could include some of the conservative party memorabilia I have, and read only the Harper letters. Also, my track through Montreal north made me think again of darrah Chang say and his one year performance, specifically the one where he stayed outside for a year. In that project, he also tracked his daily movements through the island of Manhattan. I’m thinking, and extension of the map paintings I’ve been working on, I could incorporate a kind of on Kawai ri/darrah Ching say/tracking daily movements/dear p.m./kind of thing. Anyway, I wonder if I should correct the Dictaphone or leave the errors, what would you do?
