Dear Justin,
Don’t worry, I am still alive, just haven’t gotten around to writing. Last night Jess and I were alone chez moi, we worked on our questions for the online Jeopardy we are hosting tonight. This week we watched The Hustler for an online reading group, we did online karaoke, we played SDV and she introduced Sol to Plants and Zombies yesterday. I’ve gone on lots of bike rides with the kids and yesterday picked Rose up when I dropped Sol off and took her for an afternoon distanced hangout with Femke. We even went to Dairy Queen. And late last night Jess and I had a great conversation with a corporate lawyer from San Francisco on Chatroulette. Once every 99 dicks or so one can stumble upon interesting conversations.

Dear Justin,
Still kicking. Had a great adult-weekend with Jess; lots of lounging around naked, eating, sex, Stardew Valley, painting. Yes! Art-like painting. I am making a Tag to compete / compliment the
“Lloyd” tags that are popping up all over. Mine will be similar to the way Clement designed the font for my political campaign posters back in 2015. They have the date 2023 with them, in case I decide to run for office again. Time will tell. Maybe I’ll be living in NB by then, who knows? My life insurance is paid up and I’m about to sign my revised will – digitally – so if I die at least my kids will be ok, money-wise. Judith will handle the finances. I have Rose today, we are about to go out and paint some rocks along the tracks – part of Sarah and Pascal’s ongoing public-ish project. Will bring my stencil and get some spray paint – bombs? – and “throw up” a few of my own Lloyds 2023. I’ll post pics to my Instagram and FBook so you can see what they look like.
Oh, and in other news I opened an online broker account so I can start playing the stock market. I’ll start my initial trades tomorrow. Any suggestions? Buy low sell high obvs, but any tips on what companies might rebound or surge in our new COVID reality?

Dear Justin,
Had a great weekend – already? Sorry I haven’t written in awhile, I had the weekend off unexpectedly (I misunderstood our custody schedule) so spent it with Jess at her place watching classic Disney animations from the nineties and having lots of sex, of course. Home tonight with Rose, we watched Hunchback of Notre Dame and played SDV. I’m a going to watch the new Netflix doc about psychedelics before bed.

Dear Justin,
Still kicking. Had a great couple nights solo with Rose and then Sol; it is really nice spending time with them individually. Tomorrow we are starting back on a 1-week on, 1-week off schedule, but since we weren’t even going to put the kids back to school until June, I’ll be looking after them both during the day because my Ex is already going back to work. And now they have announced schools won’t re-open in Montreal, so I’m not quite sure how I’ll get back to work. Anyway I’ve made a bong and am trying some low doses of pot to find a new way of dealing with my chronic lower back pain and as well get over my paranoia. Do you think I just have to build up a bit of a tolerance?
Also: Sol and I are now in a race to finish the mines in SDV: I hit level 100 today and he zoomed from level 30 to 85. He is so determined!

Dear Justin,
I am still alive. Been busy-not-busy; maybe it’s called lazy? Jessica is always doing something; I enjoy doing nothing. Rather, I enjoy doing nothing with the kids, which involves: Playing SDV (obvs), playing Catan (new board game), going for long bike rides, painting rocks by the tracks, watching movies and, lately, smoking pot and learning to deal with my paranoia. Watching the season ending of Bojack Horseman was NOT a good idea to do after smoking, but listening to Spout Lore is. Also, having baths is a good idea. Today Jessica has an online presentation – last month she was supposed to be in Denmark at a conference so this is at least something – which we will watch. I expect the kids to be bored within 5 minutes; artspeak can do that to some of us adults as well as kids.
I heard that Cliff Eyland has died, and I feel deeply sad. He was a very kind man and a fantastic artist.

Dear Justin,
How are things? Can you grow a full beard or do you really just prefer the goatee? Summer is finally here, I think almost time for a haircut and beard trim for me. Given the recent warm temperatures I have almost convinced Rose (and Sol) that I should give them undershaves. Rose has mine and Nana’s thick hair and she has a tendency to become overheated easily. Lately our routines consist of park-hopping. When we take our afternoon bike rides we stop at as many parks as possible, stopping to sit on a tablecloth in the shade and read stories, play tic-tac-toe, write, draw, nap, snack. Now that it has been announced that daycamps will resume (start?) on June 22 we have to make decisions regarding the return to work and custody schedule from now through the summer. Had weird intense dreams involving my Ex last night, every emotion embroiled in my internal struggles with my dislike-attraction-repulsion-desire-hatred for her. And what are we to do about the summer? Apparently NB has closed the borders, so must I now try to smuggle myself and the children in?

Geez Louise When was the last time I wrote you? How long has it been since I wrote? I haven’t written in a week? Not at all? Well here it is.
I’ll keep it short because I am supposed to be working from home right now but this projector comparison and lens throw calculations, combined with the heat wave, is making my mind melt.
Not a lot to report: Had the kids Monday through yesterday, we would play SDV, then some schoolwork, Catan, watch History 101 episodes during lunch and then go visit some parks and sit in the shade and read Danny the Champion of the World and eat veggies and fruit and drink slush. Spent the past couple nights at Jessica’s, including Tuesday for karaoke from her balcony and I drank too much bourbon, probably shouldn’t have had that reisling midway through and should have eaten supper and I became too drunk and ill and yesterday was a write-off.
Better today, my Ex has the kids and I am trying to work. Team meeting later today via Zoom. What are your strategies for beating the heat?

Dear Justin,
It’s hard to work from home in this heat. It’s hard to get back in the groove of working regardless of the heat. I want to paint and make a new body of work but I can’t seem to organize my time to allow for it. I haven’t been in touch with my parents as often as they would like. I’m afraid of running out of time, running out of money. Am I ever going to finish that damn goalie sculpture? I need to write a new grant. What if I made it with a 3D printer out of saved plastics? Since meeting Jessica I’ve been saving all my plastics, as she does. She plans on weaving with hers, but I think it would be cool to use mine to make the goalie sculpture. I think I’ll look into it. Maybe.

Dear Justin,
Have you ever read Cat on a hot tin roof? I’ve been reading the play as part of a reading group Jessica involved me in with some of her literary friends. Started watching the movie yesterday but the reading group was cancelled so I can finish reading it before watching it. The kids are playing SDV. We watched Dolittle tonight, it sucked terribly on so many levels.

Dear Justin,
Finally the remaining issues of the Scott Piligrim series arrived. We were missing issues 2, 4 and 6. Issues 1, 3 and 5 all came individually over the past month. Jessica suggested them for Rose. She might be a tad on the young side but I think she likes them. I like them. I wonder if they will somehow magically offer me some new strategies for dealing with my own evil Ex? I have definitely been an evil ex-boyfriend – just read years 2001-03 in the Dear PM archive – I think they keep them in some House of Commons off-site archive? Ask a staffer. Anyway I was a dick to Karina, and not at all very mature or entirely decent even with my Ex, but when will I stop having dreams about her? Will it really take years?
