Dear justin,

We arrived in London during a snowstorm last night. It was a long drive but very pleasant, Jessica is a great partner, in every possible way. I am just now waiting for Eduardo to show up, I am at his new place. It is a really cute townhouse subdivision close to the University. Certainly different from Montréal apartment dwelling but I think he will like it. He has a basement to turn into a studio.

Dear Justin,

Still no clear winner in the US election, but it seems to be tilting
to Biden. Jess and I did not tune in much Tuesday during our drive back to Montreal, even though we didn’t get home until 2:30am. We listened mostly to Dungeon World or Adventure Zone or Spout Lore – fantasy RPG podcasts, helpful in keeping our spirits up.

We visited 1492 Landback Lane after leaving London. Our first attempts were thwarted by the OPP. I knew that the 6 Nations had torn up the street and erected barricades but I wasn’t counting on the OPP having their own barricades further down the streets. We walked across and

met with a couple folks who directed us around to the main entrance of the reserve, and the back roads to Brampton so we could get some lumber. I wanted to take advantage of the empty truck and so we bought 12 8×2 and brought them back to the encampment. They certainly do not look like they are going anywhere anytime soon, and preparing for the long haul. Maybe you can, I don’t know, do something about it? Like

tell the racist fuck of a mayor of Haldiman County to retire, and the developers to eat their losses – they shouldn’t be buying land that scheming weasels are illegally selling. Respect the treaties!

Dear justin,

Sorry, my keyboard was sent to French, and I am using Dictaphone. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have been elected, I hear you were one of the first world leaders to congratulate them. I wonder what kind of shenanigans Trump will endeavour to engage in to either hold power or fuck up the transition or so so the seeds of doubt and harmful in about voter fraud like it is as common as shoplifting? Breathing? Not that I have any pretence that Biden is left enough for a rebel rouser is like me, I don’t think he has any interest in defending the police, but it definitely saves us four more years of almost assured distraction. Anyway, I have the kids since last night and took a projector home from Vox so we can play on Jess‘s old Nintendo 64 and watch movies on the drop-down screen in the living room, which is now mostly clear and really we just need to put up decorations photographs posters artwork and get my tools out of there.

Dear Justin,

The deinstall is going well, working with Myles again and for the first time, Samuel, a tech-about-town who works mostly with Articule and Optica and DHC / PHi. He’s great.

I’m thinking of having “LAND BACK” tattooed on my left hand when I go for my free flash next week. More and more it is the central issue of
our times – it is part of climate change, it is part of reconciliation
and reparations. I think more and more that this should be a driving

force in everything we do, every day. It should be a daily guiding principle. It affects everything. Given the situation with COVID – how it disproportionally affects BIPOC more than us privileged white settlers – now is a perfect time to act. As the late Jack Layton would say: This is a golden opportunity. Shut down the oil industry, give stewardship over lands and waterways to Indigenous Peoples, and abolish prisons and police. Start with the RCMP: don’t defund gradually, just pull the fucking plug already. Gone. It would be a
good place to start.

Dear Justin,

What a huge disappointment, that you and your cronies (all neo-liberal politicians, both Liberal and Conservative) and even the Bloc (WTF?) all voted down an NDP bill to tax the rich – and only starting at $20-million / year. So far from reality you are. Born rich, always

rich, think rich and protect the rich. I say, and have always said: Eat the rich.

Dear justin,

Sol’s won a partial success on a parlay role as we were determining whether he could play video games on my phone while the rest of us watched singing in the rain tonight. So, without further idea, the rest of this letter is written by Saul, which was conditional on my part, since it wasn’t partial success and this is my like what do you think condition. In the world when you’re an adult what do you want to see the world look like Jess! Jess! Stop speaking!

Sorry, multiple conversations going on here leave Dictaphone. Of course I’m leaving it. That’s what dictated, not corrected means.

OK, the rest of this is Saul.
No I am not correcting the spelling of his name.

Dear justin
When you grow up will you look at the world
And see what you see with your eyes
That I am talking right now to Justin Trudeau and I am not embarrassed because you’re not gonna read it anyways so where is just say blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah are you bad or are you nice are you like Trump

Dear Justin,

What a funa nd relaxing weekend. Sol had made plans to meet with a couple of his friends from school at the school playground at 3pm on Saturday… but they didn’t show up, so Rose and Sol and I played zombie and tag on the modules. We went back on Sunday at 3 just in case there had been a mixup in the day but they were not there so Rose and Sol and I played hide-n-seek tag instead. They had some money to spend as they both lost teeth last week, so Intrigue Fatigue – who now has a British accent for some reason – paid them a visit Saturday

night after the movie. The rest of the weekend was a mix of video games, getting groceries and cooking. Made sushi for supper last
night. Back to work this morning, slushy and wet on the walk to school but we were all up on time, had breakfasts and kids to school on time, no rushing.

I hope you are ready for a week of coast to coast to coast actions of solidarity with Indigenous Sovereignty – the fucking DFO illegally removing Mi’kmaq traps to “make room” for the commercial fishers, 1492 Land Back Lane, the Wet’suweten to name but just a few. Your inaction speaks volumes.

Dear Justin,

I drove the scissor lift into the wall at the end of the day
yesterday. Wouldn’t be such a big deal if the wall didn’t have a photographic vinyl image covering the whole surface. The photo is of Colin Campbell and Lisa Steele, it is the introductory image to one of the shows we are putting up. I stayed late to prep the hole for some delicate patchwork today. I have to try to tape and mud the joints and smooth the whole wall to the level of the remaining vinyl, then go over the whole surface with a reprint, lining up the image exactly. Fun times! In other news The kids are with their mom until Saturday, Jess and I ordered expensive vegan thai and played Bananagram and watched Farmhouse Vernacular. No sex last night but holy moly I can hardly keep up, her drive way surpasses mine – but then again, I’m so old!

Dear Justin,

Boy oh boy Conrad Black is such a patronizing, racist white
supremacist old rich white man – probably misogynistic and homophobic as well. I just read a rant he published in the National Post – does
that make that paper a racist, patronizing white supremacist paper? – didn’t he start that rag? Didn’t he go to jail for some shady
financial shit? Isn’t he a Lord? I honestly thought he died already.
Can decent people intervene somewhere and stop giving him such a huge platform from which to spew his despicable nonsense?

Conrad Black goes to such acrobatic lengths to whitewash and defend John A. MacDonald’s so-called achievements I wonder if he plans to take to the mat in an Olympics in the coming years.
