Dear Justin,
I’m at work – trying to love it. Working on Sketchup plans of the WC renovations – I have been dragging my heels on it, but now that the gallery is closed and the performances cancelled, I have a surplus of time and should seize the day. I am going to propose that my hours be reduced so I can focus more on the upcoming move. The kids are excited! And I need to plan the loft bed construction.
Oops, sorry I never finished this and it is now the next day. Busy-ish at work – also planning for the move – have a staff meeting shortly then off to IKEA Boucherville so Jess can get a couple more shelves for her bookcase, and return another one.
I am loving the Communauto! —

Dear Justin,
Had a good weekend – Jess and I really dove into apartment renos head first. The kitchen cupboards needed to be painted, then we decided to paint the few doors from black to white, then add some shelves, then finish the closet, more patching and painting of walls, a couple trips
to the Home Despot, purchasing new underside sliding drawer rails, lots of little finicky things but it is coming along. I stayed there
all weekend, tonight will probably stay at my old place as I am helping Pascal with drywall installation at the new studio and then meeting someone to sell my air conditioner. Maybe I should keep it? But we’re on the ground floor and it feels like it will be cool enough in the summer, and if we need an AC for the kids we’ll get a smaller unit then.
I’m back at work and set up a little woodshop in the gallery yesterday as I came down to cut some shelves. I’ll start working on the 5 Dotronix boxes for the next show but also need to finish the crates for Anahita this week, before I get the kids, yikes, I casually kept putting that project off.
Still have not added to the mural, don’t know when I’ll find time for that either. Have to start packing, booked the movers for the 22nd. And I still have to build the loft bed for Rose!
I had a good session with Yaël yesterday – it followed a brief interaction I had with my Ex when I went to pick up my tiling saw, we discussed mostly the kids and school and logistics, but with Yaël it was all very positive, she is very pleased I will be sharing studio space with pascal and Sarah, the move is positive, my life with
Jessica is positive, I’m less anxious and bound up in negativity with my Ex, I just don’t want interactions with her, and so it was
reaffirmed that no, I am not participating in a false “family” get together this Xmas, even if my Ex tries to guilt me into it by saying
it is something Rose really wants. I can discuss with Rose that having her birth parents together for her birthday might sound good in theory but it is not a good idea in reality.

Dear Justin,
OMG I forgot to tell you about the conversation I had with my mom on Sunday. She had sold their old trailer to a guy she didn’t like from
the onset – Troy Holland – who had visited and paid a $2000 deposit when she first posted the announcement, then came to pick it up just the other day and paid the balance in cash – he had just finished a roofing job and had a thick wad of cash in his front pocket – he
struts himself like a peacock – and he hauls the trailer away and then calls later in the day to say that the sliding floor had broken and he wants to return the trailer. My parents say that the trailer was sold
as is, it hadn’t been moved in 4 years and Troy knew and agreed to
those terms – and he lost it, and threatened their lives, which scared
the bejeezus out of them and so he returned the trailer and they gave
him back his money. I immediately wanted to enact some sort of revenge – but that would be veering into Breaking Bad territory, and this is
real life, with my parents living in semi-seclusion and I don’t want
to risk anything; he knows where they live. Even pressing charges for uttering threats, is it worth having their new trailer burned to the ground? Because that’s how these things can escalate. Better to just feel sorry for him; he’s clearly manic, has who knows what mental or trauma injuries, and his roofing business is failing or failed, so
best to let it be. My parents will fix the sliding floor and put the
trailer up for sale again. I can wait to get my money back, it is just savings for a possible house purchase some day. Or maybe I’ll pour it into the bronze goalie sculpture? Also speaking of money, I received my provincial tax return, but notices from CRA that they can’t process my UCB because they haven’t processed my federal tax return yet, and also they are billing me for GST overpayments. The wheels sometimes they turn very slowly.

Dear Justin,
Was supposed to help with Pascal to dismantle some parts of his old studio but her rescheduled, so I was able to grout the tiles around
the sink in the new apartment. Alos bought some groceries for the old apartment, as I am getting the kids after school today. I took a Flex Communauto from work last night as I had some long lengths of wood to bring home with me for the new apartment. New shelves! Oh, and wouldn’t you know it, I have a flat tire so am bikeless for the
moment. Not sure if the kids were hoping to use their bikes this week but I have a monthly metro pass so we can get to school and back on the metro.

Dear Justin,
Back at work, after a fun-filled long weekend. Happy Indigenous
People’s day, in some parts of the America’s known as Columbus the Colonizer, Rapist and Pillager that he was. We painted the kitchen
floor at the new place but it will need a second coat, which Jessica
will do tomorrow. We took a communauto to Candiac on Saturday to get a pot hanging rack. The weather was fabulous, until today. I slept
poorly as Rose had come into my room at 2am and woke me up. I spent the rest of the night in her bed and tossed and turned, thoughts
racing again. Rose was upset the other day because I told her I didn’t want to have a family get-together with the kids and my Ex, so now I don’t know what to do. I gave in, she was upset and crying, but I
really don’t think it’s a good idea. I’ll try to talk to her again
this week, in between homework, suppers and bedtime routines.

Dear Justin,
Here is a copy of the letter I just sent you via Leadnow:
Dear Prime Minister Trudeau, Minister Jordan and Minister Bennett,
I’m writing to you to urge you to take action to protect the treaty
rights and safety of the Mi’kmaw people. The Mi’kmaq have the right to catch and sell fish to provide a moderate livelihood for themselves
and their families. This is protected both by the Peace and Friendship treaties and the Supreme Court decision from R. v. Marshall.
The violent and hate-filled racist violence from non-Indigenous
fishermen targeted at Mi’kmaw fishermen is reprehensible. While your statements condemning the violence are welcome, Mi’kmaw fishermen are calling on you to take concrete action to uphold their rights and
prevent this situation from escalating further.
Sincerely,
Chris Lloyd h2v1w1

Dear Justin,
I am still alive. I started packing last night, and mostly finished
the kids’ room. I finished Rose’s loft bed on the weekend but made a mis-calculation, and it is actually about an inch too wide – what is my problem with measurements? It’s an easy enough fix, but still. Actually I still need to make a side rail so she doesn’t roll out and fall six feet to the floor. My therapist re-iterated during our
session yesterday that I am a good father but I need to change my contrarian position regarding homework as it stresses Rose out a lot.

Dear Justin,
My packing is coming along OK. I more or less finished Rose’s bed yesterday, bracing it to the wall and floor. Don’t you just love No
More Nails? Just about finished at work today, heading home to pack some more. Oh, yesterday I was listening to Sandy and Nora and they have bought 50 of these great bags from an Inuk designer Amy Norman, all proceeds going to the Mi’kmaq fishers who are being terrorized by white racists in NS. Any plans to do anything about that? Or just
weasel out of every and all responsibility and spring for a snap election?

Dear Justin,
I am moved in! Everything went smooth – except Jessica awesome Thursday morning with a very stiff neck and was unable to do anything during the move. She was a huge help in getting my kitchen packed Wednesday night – I would not have been able to do it on my own, left too much to the last minute. All my boxes are unpacked, just need to organize the shelves, living room and hooks in the kids ‘ room, more ceiling hooks for the pits and pans racks and more plants. Have to keep them out of reach of the cats. Jess meet my Ex Friday night when she dropped the kids off, it was a quick meeting, all fine on the surface. Probably good for the kids to see us all together.
Tomorrow we will carved the pumpkin we picked up today, and mais and put up Halloween decorations. My Ex asked if we would take the kids truck- our- treating next weekend, odd request s as she wants to stay in and give out candy? Whatever.
Jessica told me that she hopes Joe Biden beats you next week. I hope you are ready for #shutdowncanada because so many folks are severely pissed at the RCMP, the OPP and you, as PM for a government that keeps passing the buck on Indigenous issues, whether it be clean water, Treaty rights or implementing UNDRIP.
I missed a Defund the Police rally this afternoon, I can be such a lazy activist sometimes.

Dear Justin,
Still kicking. New health measures announced yesterday mean Les Années Musicales is finished, I’ll start the démontage this week. Having a
good week so far with the new school routine with the kids, although
we were 5 minutes late this morning – the kids can be so sluggish in
their movements in the morning! No problem getting up early on the weekends to play Stardew Valley.
I’m still occupied in my thoughts and heart with all the terrible shit going on against Indigenous land and water defenders; can you make this a priority? Or at least pretend better? Your white supremacy is showing.
Here is a copy of the petition I signed today about adopted survivors of the 60s Scoop:
Petition to the Prime Minister Whereas:
The Sixties Scoop refers to a practice that occurred in Canada of taking or “scooping up” Indigenous children from their families and communities for placement in foster homes or adoption;
The Sixties Scoop began in the late 1950s and persisted into the 1980s; It is estimated that over 20,000 Indigenous children were taken from their families; and
In 2018, the Government of Canada announced a settlement agreement with the survivors of the Sixties Scoop.
We, the undersigned, residents of Canada, call upon the Prime Minister to work with the Sixties Scoop Network and survivors on a ceremony with the intent of asking forgiveness and issuing a national apology
in the House of Commons.

Dear justin,
I had a crazy dream last night where I was yelling at you so loud. It was part of a defund the police protest coming in the wake of yet another police killing of someone in mental distress, who had a knife, here in Montreal a few days ago. What the fucking fuck? I was yelling at you because it is just all talk, consultation, negotiation, waiting it out, and I was yelling with such frustration. A bigger frustration is the in action on native treaty rights, why there is still no safe water on all the reserves, why land claims drag through the colonial court system for over 20 years and leads to situations like OK for Caledonia? What a fucking fuck! And then this morning I scroll through Instagram and stumbled across a new News story from last year about your third black face incident and I was gob smacked as last year around the election I was a bit disengaged and totally caught up in my own puny divorce proceedings but what the fucking fuck? Does this just show how fucking racist our whole fucking country is? Anyway, I should not be talking this letter to you I am driving to Fox to get a dolly so we can get the washing machine out out of my old apartment as I am getting a truck today to help Eduardo move. Then we are going to London Ontario tomorrow, and I hope to stop by 1492 Land Back Ln. on Monday or Tuesday with a load of supplies to help them keep the barricades up. I swear if I had the time I would stay there or go to PC and help the wet sweating. Fuck you!
