Dear Justin,

I feel I’m falling behind a bit with Anne’s project – although the C+C cuts are made, and I took the pieces to Vox today and some of the pieces are cut so eventually I’ll get it all built. I did build a couple crates for the work going to SJ – exoskeletons, really. Measurements and weights taken, but not yet given, and the works not yet wrapped in anything, but basically ready to go.

Took Rose to see an orthodontist this morning. One of her canines is blocked from coming down as a baby tooth is in the way. The projected cost for braces and a retainer for Rose – for a “maybe” project, really, depending on what happens after the baby tooth is pulled – is $9200. Fun things to look forward too. We’ll get a second opinion, for sure. Nice to know they do in-house financing with no interest, how kind of them. Also reminds me again why is dental not covered through Medicare? But asking that is almost like asking why we allow billionaires? Or why isn’t there a welth tax? Or why don’t we impose sanctions on offshore tax havens? Or why does some dickhole employee of CP rail not only close back up the hole in the fence but dump sticky tar all over the pathway? They really hate the natural movement of people that much? They are so protective of their giant corporations’ railroad tracks? Anyway I have to try to finish my text for Judith for the paintings but it turned into a whole thing, a much too long story and way too detailed, so I need to condense.

subject stop the deportation of Jatinder Singh

I am writing to demand that you stop the deportation of Jatinder Singh to India, which is scheduled for June 15, 2021, and that you release him from his electronic tracking bracelet.

The COVID-19 situation in India is so catastrophic that even flights from India to Canada have been suspended. Why then should an undocumented person be less protected than the rest of the population of Canada?

The fact that there have been any deportations at all during the past year is inhumane. Stop ALL deportations!

Furthermore, electronic tracking bracelets are increasingly used by CBSA to expand its surveillance and control over migrants. Not only are these bracelets inhumane, but they have serious impacts on the mental health of migrants and their loved ones. What Jatinder needs is freedom and status, so that he can live in dignity with his family and community. Please act now, so that Jatinder and his family can stop living in constant fear- and please do the same for all non-status people!

Sincerely, —

Dear Justin,

I had a chuckle when I checked into Twitter to see a tweet from you about celebrating Environmental day. Didn’t you buy a pipeline? Don’t you continue to prop up the fossil fuel industry with subsidies? Your commitment to the environment is about as solid as your commitment to meeting the 94 calls to action from the 2015 TRC report. As of 2019 your government has “completed” 9. The CBC monitoring is more generous, but flawed in that it is more generous to the feds, giving seemingly equal measure to words as action – counting empty promises, essentially.

Fuck, just get your shit together already. —

Dear Justin,

We spent the past few days looking at and potentially buying a 1988 Dodge Ram camper van, looked also at a Microbus for a potential conversion, and late this afternoon went to see a small camper trailer, and decided to buy it. Knocked price down from $6000 to $5500, I’m meeting the seller in Beloeil tomorrow morning to complete the transaction and then have it delivered to our parking spot out back – Miwa will have to find other parking for their car. Now since we put the cart before the horse I need to buy a car now, lol, or borrow my Ex’s and put a trailer hitch on it.

Dear Justin,

We bought that little camping trailer yesterday, effectively putting the cart before the horse as we do not have a vehicle to tow it. I drove to Beloeil yesterday morning in Communauto to meet the seller at an SAAQ that has no lineups, and they delivered the camper shortly after. It weighs 440 kg, has been customized inside quite nicely with teal cupboards, fridge and trim, faux-wood panelling and flooring, actually has more sleeping space than the Dodge Ram camper we almost bought, and we have temporarily named it Ramsay, as that is what the license plate sounds like if your read the letters and numbers. I took 2 phone calls in it yesterday, one with my psychiatrist and another with Sebastien at the CCA. He accepted to paying me $25/hr which is what I asked, and so I booked working on the next big install starting in mid-September. Next step is getting a new contract at Vox with the same pay. I need to earn more per hour so I can work less, which is the best thing for mental health, next to being in love and having crazy projects to share with that love, like buying a camping trailer.

Dear Justin,

still looking for a car, narrowing it down to a subaru forrester or, if I want to be really fancy and treat myself, a crosstrek. Found one outside Shawinigan, manual transmission and has a trailer hitch for a little over $9000, so expensive but then again, life is short right?

Dear Justin,

Took the car to a garage nearby for a quick tune-up and oil change, the mechanic thinks the oil leak might be from the oil filter not being screwed on correctly? He said repeatedly how good a car it is, which is good to hear as I was worried that in my haste I might have bought a lemon.

We’re working on Ramsay this weekend, and the garden, and basically enjoying our life together.

As you celebrate Father’s Day do you ever consider the legacy you are choosing to leave to your children? Inaction on UNDRIP, fighting residential school survivors in court, propping up the oil and gas industries during a climate crisis, failing to implement the 94 calls to action from the TRC (it’s been 6 years now), and just generally failing BIPOC everywhere?

Dear Justin,

Bonne Fête Nationale – although if we are cancelling Canada Day should we also cancel Wannabe Independence Day here in Quebec? Sure it is a celebration of resistance to English domination, but what about the early French colonizers? What about the evil Catholic Church? What about all the broken treaties, broken promises, stolen lands? I listened to a Canadaland podcast yesterday about the Oka Crisis. Oka, 1492 Landback Lane, Wet’suwet’en, the residential schools and the continued findings of more and more unmarked graves of CHILDREN – it’s all connected, and it’s all directly connected to the apartheid state apparatus of Canada, of which you are the so-called leader, so it is all directly connected to you, not to mention your father and his White Paper proposition – remember that? anyway, I am planning to spend the “holiday” today working on repairs to Ramsay. I’m getting Rose today as well, my Ex says that the kids need a break from each other. Oh, and my paintings are up at Tuck, ready for the show that launches tomorrow. They are online today for a preview, then up for sale as of 7am tomorrow. If you want to buy one better do it early, Judith expects them to go fast. Go to tuckstudio.ca/blog for the preview.

Dear Justin,

Had a wild day yesterday, sleeping in, then after breakfast dropping Jessica off at the CEP, and taking Rose to Vox. She made calls to all the RV centres in a 100km radius looking for the special Dicor Seal-Tite corner seal tape while I cut the pieces of wood to replace the rotten ones that I pulled or crumbled from Ramsay. We finally found one near Mascouche and so we dropped Jessica off at home and headed out for a 2-hr round trip to buy a roll of tape. Decided to take the 25 toll highway to see the price has jumped from 7 to 9 for non-pass holders. Rose ordered sushi for us during the drive so it arrived almost right after we got home, and after eating I spent the next 4 hours putting Ramsay back together – the outer shell, at least. There is still some panelling to replace inside. And I also threw the tarp over him again as I ran out of sealant for around the edges, and I don’t want any water trickling in. Just being extra cautious.

Dear Justin,

I got my second dose on Sunday at le Palais de Congres, which has a huge massive ginormous setup. As it was Sunday and the first massive heatwave there was no line. I took Moderna this time, and in my right arm, as my left shoulder is still sore. I might be suffering from SIRVA.

Got the kids Sunday evening, and they’re in a Camp de Jour this week as I start the démontage at VOX.

Watched a bunch of Bo Burnham recently, I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of him before – Jess told me about him. This is why I need to be dating a Millennial. Bo is amazing.
